Paper is an elegant user interface for Facebook with and added feature of cultivated topic sections like News, Family, and Pride. It is hard to tell if it actually uses less battery than the Facebook App as I apparently kill about the same percentage of battery regardless of if I am using Facebook, Paper, or Safari, and the drain feels the same time-wise. While it still runs background activity, at least it stops after I force close the app where as the Facebook app keeps churning.
What does paper not do that it should?
- Reply to specific comments snd not just stack comments on the main thread.
- Track and use the new "reactions."
- Sometimes it doesnt give you everything you will see in your newsfeed via the Facebook app or you web browser, but you dont get the junk like suggested friends or sponsored posts either.
- Have your new notifications show as a badge on the app button.
- Allow you to edit your comment to someone elses post.
- Have that neat new tool that lets you easily select to see posts from certain sources first or remove them from your feed.
What does Paper not do that it could?
- Create new sections that gather content you define or that are existing Facebook pages so you can quickly see everything from your favorite sources. (I want a Design section with sources I add like Dwell and Atomic Ranch, or one that is just everything from Wired or my friend Bob.)
On the whole I like it enough for it to be my primary FB interface, I just wish it was a 100% replacement instead of about 80%.
